What is Financial Aid?

We'll help you begin your welding career.

We'll help you begin your welding career.

Financial aid is assistance students use to pay tuition and expenses when they don't have enough money to pay for it themselves.

There are many different types of aid that you can choose from. Federal Grants, also called gift aid, don't have to be paid back. Federal Loans, which have to be repaid, are the most popular type of financial aid. Federal Stafford and Federal Plus Loans are backed by the federal government and offer low-interest rates.

Sometimes our students also use financial aid in the form of Private loans, which are not backed by the federal government. Although Federal loans are better because they have lower interest rates than Private loans, if you find you need more money, you can apply for loans with Private lenders that will allow you to borrow additional funds above your federal loan limit.

Tulsa Welding School also offers a variety of financial options to help students pay for training. They may include a zero-interest payment plan, institutional scholarships, outside scholarships, and/or assistance from third-party agencies. Please contact the Financial Aid Office for more information about all of these financial options.

Tulsa Welding School's Financial Aid Office can assist every student with finding the financial solution that is right for you.

Please contact the TWS Financial Aid Office for further information or assistance toll free, at (877) 935-3539 for the Tulsa Campus and (866) 574-2526 for the Jacksonville Campus.

How Do I Apply for Financial Aid?

In order to receive most types of aid, you must first complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA. This is a financial aid application form used for federal and state grants and loans. You may obtain a paper copy of the FAFSA from the Financial Aid Office.

You may also complete, submit, and track your application online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. If you want to submit your FAFSA electronically, you must first apply for a Personal Idenitification Number (PIN - www.pin.ed.gov) from the Department of Eductaion. Your PIN is a unique personal identifier that gives you access to your personal information on many Department of Education websites. Your PIN also serves as your electronic signature, so do not share it with anyone. Make sure you fill in the correct Federal School Code on your FAFSA application. The Federal School Code for Tulsa Welding School is 015733. Before you apply, we recommend that you have your income information available before filling out the FAFSA. You may need to include the income information for your spouse (if married) or for your parents (if dependent).

Applying for loans lets you pay for your educational expenses at a low (and often tax deductible) interest rate. The Federal Student Loan Program is the top source of financial aid in the United States. Loans offered through this program have low interest rates, deferred payment plans, and an easy application and approval process. The Financial Aid Office has all of the application materials to assist you with applying for these loans.

Many banks offer alternative or private student loans. The rates and conditions for these loans vary, so it is important to review all available information. Most private loans are based on credit and some borrowers may need a co-signor. Private loan lenders usually provide streamlined loan processing, competitive rates, and reliable service. Information regarding private loan lenders, terms and conditions is available in the Financial Aid Office.

Additional information on eligibility requirements, alternate financing, amounts available, interest rates, scholarships, and repayment schedules is also available in the Financial Aid Office.
